Daniel Mathuku

Kenyan tourism professional and Operations Lead at Bonanza Adventure Tours & Travel, writing on Nairobi, its history and the stories of East Africa.

Daniel Mathuku is a Kenya-based tourism professional and Operations Lead at Bonanza Adventure Tours & Travel, with more than a decade of experience across Kenya and East Africa. He holds a Master’s in International Tourism Management from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor’s in Travel and Tour Operations Management from Moi University, Kenya.

Born and raised in rural Kenya, Daniel’s connection to East Africa’s landscapes and wildlife began long before tourism became his profession. His understanding of East Africa is shaped by both lived experience and professional expertise, from reading the land and its seasons to understanding its cultures, communities, and conservation challenges.

He believes that the best way to protect a place is to first understand it, and the best way to understand Africa is to experience its stories through the people who call it home.

African by birth, shaped by the land, and committed to telling African stories from within Africa.
