The Echoes of Africa editorial desk researches, writes and reviews the pages on this site that are not the work of a named contributor. It is a working desk, not a person, and it is credited here so that readers can see who stands behind a page rather than finding no attribution at all.
Desk pages are written from named authorities rather than from memory. Where a page states a fact about a World Heritage inscription, an entry requirement, a health risk or a security position, that fact is read from the body that publishes it and the source is listed on the page. Every desk page carries the date it was last reviewed, and where a figure could not be sourced the page says so instead of estimating one.
Where a contributor writes from their own expertise or their own country, they are credited by name and the desk is not. Those bylines link to the contributor's own profile, and the desk does not share or borrow them.
